A reminder

Don't forget - by the end of this week you should have concluded your research and be ready to begin your planning. This includes all relevant pre-production materials, which should be in place by the beginning of next term. You will not be allowed to borrow cameras until you have completed and published your planning, including storyboards and schedules.

Deadlines

Just a brief reminder about deadlines. Ideally, by the end of next week, you will have completed detailed research into at least five films of the genre within which you have decided to work (or shown how your ideas have developed through this). You will also have considered, either as a factor of your research or based on it, the manner in which ideas of institution (e.g. studio, distributor), representation and audience are explored within your chosen films. You will also have considered how the films you have looked at have started inspiring your own ideas.

Over the following three weeks (including Christmas break), you should make sure that you have completed your planning. This will include the following:
  • Outline of your proposed film (can be done as a treatment)
  • Detailed outline of the opening titles and sequence
  • Script, if appropriate
  • Storyboard
  • Production schedule
  • Call sheets
  • Location scouting photos/ ideas
  • Test footage
  • Links to research
Remember, you have lots of sample documentation in the packs I gave you today project. You will be beginning your shoot in January, so make sure that you have everything in place for then.
